Roadmap and updates

Progress without blurred boundaries.

This roadmap separates capabilities that can be tried now from development work and longer-term plans. Status reviewed September 12, 2026.

Working now

Public Streamlit proof of concept

Typed or Braille-keyboard questions, recorded voice questions, generated spoken answers, and user-triggered still-image tasks for reading, scene description, and object inspection.

  • No user account is required.
  • Conversation content and preferences remain in the current Streamlit session rather than a durable Access AI account.
  • Provider requests use a server-side credential, not a credential embedded in a client.

In development

Native Android foundation

The primary mobile direction focuses first on blind-first onboarding, Android semantics, platform text-to-speech, and local accessibility preferences.

Production AI answers, camera capture, and voice recognition are not represented as connected in that milestone.

Planned

Selective smart-glasses path

The design proposes explicit, user-triggered still-frame capture, a phone or controlled backend relay, and concise text or audio output.

No glasses SDK, continuous video, obstacle avoidance, or navigation capability is implemented.

Evaluation gates

Before broader use

Physical accessibility testing

Validate onboarding, controls, focus, speech, text scaling, and TalkBack behavior on representative Android devices.

Privacy and safety review

Confirm capture cues, cancellation, retention boundaries, failure handling, and proportionate public claims.

Bounded integration

Evaluate a provider-independent request contract and one hardware adapter behind clear controls only after earlier gates are met.

Stay involved

Contribute practical feedback

Pilot and partnership conversations can help prioritize useful tasks and responsible testing.

Safety notice: Roadmap items are not release promises. Access AI remains development-stage assistive software and is not a safety-critical system.
